The Art of Proper Curing

Even the best flower can be ruined with improper curing. Artisanal, slow drying of Cannabis pays off in preserving more flavorful, psychoactive terpenes, breaking down the bitter taste of chlorophyll, and producing a cooler, smoother smoke, with fewer anxious effects.

Our plants are slowly line-dried under controlled temperature and humidity, then moved to food grade boxes for the final cure. This second stage may last several weeks, as the drying plants are regularly checked and turned in their boxes. For peak flavor and aroma, the goal is for the buds to compress like moist cake rather than a sponge. Once the flowers are perfectly cured, we store them with a nitrogen flush and vacuum-sealing to ensure that the high quality is preserved until they are ready to be trimmed, packaged and sold. Some of Kiona’s exotic sativas are cured on the stem for up to 8 weeks.

We offer our flowers in full, half, quarter and eighth ounce, wax sealed jars as well as one gram mylar packs. Our whole flower pre-rolls are half-gram, in natural hemp papers. To keep our flowers at optimal moisture, we add humidity packs to quarter-ounce packages and larger.
